Rodrigo is third in the line of a family of silversmiths. He learnt the trade very early in his life by working closely with his Father, and has always loved making jewellery. He is one of 7 brothers who are all silversmiths, but sadly his 6 brothers have been forced to move to the US in order to support their families. Rodrigo has entertained the idea of emigrating himself but would dearly love to stay with his wife and two children in Mexico.
Fair Trade offers Rodrigo the opportunity to do this by paying him a fair wage for his work, which in turn allows him to support his family. Rodrigo lives several miles outside of the City of Taxco, which is home to many of the silversmiths in Mexico. Rodrigo and Francisca go on many long hikes to find inspiration for his nature based designs.
